TheraCommunity Moon Blog for January 2023

As we enter January let this be a reminder that every day is a fresh start. We can take the lessons from the past, but the only time we can implement them is in the present. Reminding ourselves to be present and mindful, can help us to find gratitude and contentment in our lives. When our focus is on the future or past we are missing out on the present moment, the most precious of all gifts.

We are heading into this month with both Mercury and Mars in their retrograde cycle, so we may be faced with extra obstacles, tests, or lessons. Remember friends, our power is in our reactions and responses. This time in retrograde is a time for going within and reflecting. Finding the hidden lessons, and wisdom within us. Remembering to balance reflecting on the past and future, with being present, and mindfully experiencing our lives. We may want to hold off on making our new years resolutions until after these retrogrades, or better yet do away with them all together, and set intentions and make manifestations instead!

This month begins with the Sun in Earth sign Capricorn. Grounded and practical, the Capricorn influence at the beginning of this month, will see us through Mercury and Mars retrogrades, and give us the balance we need, during what may feel like a foggy and confusing time.

Being aware of astrological happenings may give us insight into some exterior influences that may be affecting our behavior. Bellow is some of the more prominent astrology for this month:

January 6th- Full Moon in Cancer:

The full moon is a time of amplified emotions and power. Cancer is known for it's sensitive side. Listening to our intuition is a way to tap into these cosmic energies in a positive way. What do our minds and bodies have to say to us? Doing some yoga or intuitive dance may help us tap into that body intuition, and aid us in hearing what the body is trying to tell us. Although we may feel extra sensitive and protective under the celestial influences happening today, such as the full moon, Mercury and Mars in retrograde, and the beginning of a new season and year, we can focus these energies inward creating a safe space within ourselves, filled with compassion and understanding.

January 12th- Mars Direct:

Mars represents our passion, drive, and energy. During Mars retrograde, we may have been reflecting on where our energy has gone over the last year, and where we will be putting our energy in the future. As the retrograde comes to an end, those reflections begin to takeon a more tangible form. Where we may have felt a block before, now all things are possible.

January 18th Mercury goes Direct:

As we emerge out of the haze that is Mercury retrograde, it is time for that collective sigh of relief. We made it through Mercury and Mars retrogrades, and we're movin and grovin into the new year. Our reflections during the retrogrades may begin to make more sense now, and things seem to happen for us with less effort. Now is the time to solidify our thoughts on the new year, and moving forward.

January 20th- Sun in Aquarius:

Although Aquarius is represented by the Water Bearer, it is a fixed air sign. Aquarians are dreamers. They have a deep intuition into the workings of the universe. Although their thoughts may be fleeting, like the air sign that they are, they have a stubborn determination when it comes to the things they're truly passionate about. We're beyond the stickiness of retrograde, and we may feel more light, ready to take flight, and follow our deepest desires! A good exercise during Aquarius season is to write down our dreams! A manifestation board is another great way to express our inner dreamer!

January 21st- New Moon in Aquarius:

A new moon is a time for starting anew. This is a time for setting intentions. An intention set for a month is much more achievable that one set for an entire year. Reflecting upon what we need to move forward, and what will serve us in being our authentic self, and living our best life. What qualities would we like to carry with us, and extend to others? Reflection on these questions can help us to set intentions for the day, week, month, or even year.

The Water Bearer represents the humanitarian giving abundance to the world. Aquarius speaks for the collective, and cares about community. Perhaps donating to a charity of our choice, or even better donating our time to help others, is a grate way to express the humanitarian within ourselves today.

January is a new beginning, but we are still in a season of dark, a season of growth. Being patient and kind with ourselves and others is a way to nurture that growth, and carry us towards the light, like seeds waiting to burst into all of their brilliance and beauty!
