July marks the halfway point of the year, and the astrology this month will have us changing directions for the second half of 2023. Reflecting on the last 6 months, and remembering our intentions from the beginning of the year can help us to realign.
Maybe we set new intentions for the second half of this year that are more in tune with where we are now. The energy this month may feel overwhelming at times. It is important that we give ourselves and others patience and understanding, as we are all on our own journey, and we have to traverse high mountains and low valleys along the way.
Some of the important astrological happenings that may influence us in July are as follows:
July 3rd- Full Moon in Capricorn:
During the full moon power is at it's peak, and we can use it to manifest our dreams into reality! What are our dreams and goals? What is it that we are looking to manifest? Answering these questions will help us along the way. Capricorn is known for it's hard work and drive to accomplish anything it sets is mind to. Represented by the symbol of the goat, this earth sign can also be stubborn. Butting heads like the goat may happen during this full moon, so we should be mindful and ask ourselves if we're being stubborn or one sided. Another negative aspect of Capricorn is it's pessimism. Finding a positive mantra we can tell ourselves today may help us to traverse these energies, so we can use this full moon to the best of our advantage.
July 4th- Sirius Gateway Opens:
Every year in July between the 3rd and 7th, a gateway of energy opens between Earth and Sirius, helping to awaken, activate and elevate us to higher levels of conciousness. Sirius, also known as our "spiritual sun" is the brightest star in the night sky. During the first week of July it comes into alignment with our sun. This year that alignment happens on July 4th. It's closeness to the sun at this time makes Sirius hard to be seen in the night sky, but it's energies can be felt more intensely. It is said that the Sirius Gateway will bring us messages from higher realms. Now is the time to align ourselves, and ignite our own energy! Meditation and spiritual practices can help us to bring ourselves into this alignment.
July 17th- New Moon in Cancer & the Lunar Nodes move into Aries and Libra:
Cancer is represented by the symbol of the crab, hiding it's tender insides beneath it's hard exterior shell. Cancer is a deeply sensitive and caring sign. Like all water signs, Cancer is said to have psychic abilities, and is in tune with it's own intuition. The new moon represents new begginings, and is a terrific opportunity for setting intentions for the month ahead. Being sensitive to our own wants and needs as well as those of others, can aid us in setting our intentions this new moon. What does our intuition tell us? What are we needing in order to move forward at this time?
There are two Lunar Nodes, both a North and a South. The Lunar Nodes, also know as the Nodes of Destiny, are a mathematical point calculated between the sun and the moon. The lunar nodes shift signs every 18 months. They also determine which signs we will experience eclipses in. The north node is said to be connected to our future and where we are going. The south node is connected to our past and where we've been. The north node is moving from Scorpio into Aries. Aries is a strong, firey newborn. Looking forward we can tune into our own strength, not fearing the unknown future, but embracing this exciting change as a child would. The south node is leaving Taurus and moving into Libra. As we reflect on where we've been, we can focus on the lessons we have learned about balance, fairness, and justice. How have these Libra attributes shaped our existance thus far? The changing of the lunar nodes brings both and ending of old energies, and the emergence of the new. We may feel a real energetic shift at this time. This is one of the biggest astrological movements of the year!
July 22nd- Venus goes Retrograde & the Sun enters Leo:
Venus is the planet of love. Our relationships with ourselves and others will be the highlight of this retrograde. Relationships from our past may come back up. Perhaps we will see an old friend or love interest, or perhaps we will be reflecting on our old self versus our present one. It does not serve us to dwell in the past, however it is advantageous to review our past experiences to understand who we are, and where we've been, in order to decide what we will take into our future, and what we wish to leave behind. What lessons have we learned from our relationships? What would we like to change in our relationships moving forward? These are good questions to ask ourselves. Journaling can be a safe and effective way to collect our thoughts on this matter. Retrogrades often get a bad rep, but they can be extremely helpful in aiding us to make choices and decisions moving ahead.
When our sun enters a sign it's influence can be felt by all. Our powerful sun enters the sign of Leo on July 17th. Leo is outgoing and charismatic. Leo loves being the center of attention. They are creative and ambitious. Now is a perfect time to tap into our creative side. Taking an art class, or doing summer projects would be a great way to use our Leo attributes. Getting dressed up or trying a new hairstyle are fun things to do during Leo season. Is there something new we have been wanting to try, but have been hesitant about? Now is the time friends, to be bold and brave!
July is sure to be an exciting month. It is important to stay grounded as we traverse this month's ups and downs. Some ways that we can stay grounded are; going outdoors and literally getting our feet and hands on the earth by gardening, or doing outdoor activities.
